Solar targets budget users

Hong Kong based Solar Energy International targets the entry-level market at this year's event.

Hong Kong based Solar Energy International targets the entry-level market at this year's event.

"We're not a major brand manufacturer; in fact, our target is the lower-end of the market as we supply the older models of hard drive processors and memory modules, which the larger brands no longer stock, despite there being a demand for them," says Jacky Hui, Solar's branch manager.

"One of the major markets is the Middle East as in some areas the technology is old and the current economic situation does not permit many people to buy the latest technology. There's nothing wrong with lower-end products as they still provide good performance."

Hui adds that the company is attending the show to increase its customer base here and also to build on relationships with existing customers. "GITEX is a good chance to meet with partners rather than communicate by email. Also, the name of our company is a bit confusing, but people have come to recognise what we sell because it's our third year at GITEX," Hui adds.
