Sonicwall beefs up Channel

Vendor lands Almasa as a result of MailFrontier acquisition

Sonicwall has made its second Middle East distribution appointment in as many months after inking a deal with Almasa.

According to the terms of the agreement, Almasa will be responsible for developing channels for the security vendor’s e-mail security appliances and software, including its antivirus and content filtering products.

The addition of Almasa to Sonicwall’s distribution network is largely down to its position as a distributor of MailFrontier — the email security vendor acquired by Sonicwall for US$31m earlier this year.

Shahnawaz Sheikh, regional sales manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at Sonicwall, revealed: “The relationship with Almasa comes from the MailFrontier days.

We are continuing to deliver the e-mail security products and Almasa is entitled to distribute to the entire MENA region.”

Shahnawaz claims that the strengthening of Sonicwall’s distribution network — which follows the region-wide extension of a contract with Redington Gulf in September — comes as the Middle East market for network security products reaches an alltime high.

“Sonicwall is getting stronger in every major market in the region, but we still believe there is a lot of work to do,” he said.

“Currently our focus is on newer markets such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt.

We are going through the process of developing the route to resellers in all of these markets.

We are also increasing our spending in a bid to increase our revenues from these countries,” he continued.
