Sony Gulf has unveiled a new addition to its Vaio series – the UX Micro PC, which the firm claims is the world’s smallest and lightest PC.
At its unveiling, Dharmendra Lalai, senior manager of Sony’s IT marketing department in this region, stated: “ The Vaio UX is a convenient device that fits in the palm of your hand.
It can be easily carried around and provides the same functionality as any home or office PC.
We believe the UX will be very popular in the Middle East, especially with gadget buffs and mobile professionals.”
The 517g UX boasts a 1.2HGHz Intel Core Solo processor and features Windows XP Professional.
On the storage front, the device offers a 30Gbyte hard disk and 512Mbytes of onboard memory.
This memory cannot be upgraded.
The device also features a 4.5-inch WSVGA screen, which slides up to expose an integrated keyboard.
At present, the Vaio UX only boasts an English keyboard. An Arabic keyboard “might” be added in the future according to the Sony officials Windows asked.
Additionally, the pocket-sized PC is equipped with a stylus and Sony’s Vaio Touch Launcher software, which is designed to provide quick access to frequently-used applications such as e-mail clients, web browsers and games.
WiFi and Bluetooth support are also present.
