Sorouh unveils commuter haven

CITYSCAPE: Abu Dhabi developer launches real estate project on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai border.

Abu Dhabi developer Sorouh on Tuesday unveiled a new real estate project to be located at Saih As Sidirah on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai border.

The three-square kilometre mixed-use development, called Al Ghadeer, is being marketed as a commuter belt community for people working in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Sorouh said the development would provide convenient access to both the UAE’s major commercial centres.

The company said Al Ghadeer would also be more affordable than either Abu Dhabi or Dubai, where the cost of accommodation has skyrocketed in recent years.

“The site's location at the Abu Dhabi - Dubai border places it in a unique position to meet residential and commercial demand from a broad area including many new industrial developments,” Mounir Haidar, Sorouh CEO, said in a statement.

“While housing and living costs in Dubai continue to rise, Al Ghadeer offers a solution due to its proximity, extensive onsite facilities and competitive pricing.”

Sorouh said Al Ghadeer would include residential apartments, town houses and villas, as well as educational, recreational and sports facilities.

The company did not reveal the cost of the development or when it construction is scheduled to begin.
