White Friday sales on Middle East online retailer Souq.com more than doubled compared to last year, with 13 million visitors and 600,000 items sold during November 25-28 across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt, the company has revealed.
The popular online retailer did not disclose the total value of sales made over the two-day discount shopping period, but claimed more than 40,000 different products were sold, and a total of 600,000 items – representing 2 items per second. Twelve thousand units were sold in one hour, it added.
It said the top selling items were perfumes, followed by mobiles, watches, make-up and handbags, and a total of 35 percent of all sales were made via Souq.app’s new mobile app.
