Spa-booking engine first from Leading

Leading Hotels of the World has unveiled several new projects including a spa-booking engine, a carbon neutral programme and an Arabic-language publication.

Leading Hotels of the World has unveiled several new projects including a spa-booking engine, a carbon neutral programme and an Arabic-language publication.

The luxury hotel marketer has re-built its Leading Spas of the World web site (
www.lhwspas.com

), which shows details of all member spas and will soon feature a spa store.

In addition, the company has almost completed the world's first spa-booking engine called Spa Linx, which will allow customers and the trade to book spa treatments at any of its member hotels.

"You'll be able to book spa treatments online and even request a therapist," revealed Leading's executive vice president and chief operating officer Welf J Ebeling.

"It's being Beta-tested right now and should be ready by the beginning of June."

Leading recently launched the Arabic version of Travel in Style Magazine, which showcases some of the company's 435 member properties.

Ebeling said the decision had been taken to cater better to the Middle East market since bookings from travellers in this region had rocketed by more than 150% each year since 2004 when Leading established its regional office in Dubai.

Middle East travellers are flocking to some of the world's most exclusive properties. The content of the Arabic Travel in Style had therefore been tailored to the tastes of the Middle East market, ranging from spa resorts in Europe, The Middle East and the Indian Ocean to landmark hotels in Spain, Singapore and New York.

Leading's initiatives don't stop there. The company recently launched the Leading Green Initiative; a carbon neutral programme whereby Leading will directly absorb the cost to offset guests' energy consumption for stays at any of its hotels.

"We will make a donation of 50¢ to Sustainable Travel International (STI) for every night of a guest's stay when their reservation is made through
www.lhwgreen.com

, or when ‘Leading Green' is mentioned to any one of our worldwide voice reservations centre," said president and CEO, Paul McManus. "The investment per guest represents 29.3 kilo-watt-hours of electricity supplied by new wind and solar power, which equates to 33.7 pounds of greenhouse gas emission reductions."
