Spain increases Index presence

Country’s furniture industry to take advantage of Gulf business potential.

Spain's Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (ANIEME) will exhibit at Index for the first time in 2008. The organisation represents around 250 companies and will be taking a stand of 400 m² in Dubai's International Exhibition Centre. It will bring a group of around ten Spanish companies to the event.

"Due to the ever increasing growth in business potential across the Middle East as more and more commercial projects and hotels are planned and already underway, we feel the time is right to establish a solid presence for the Spanish furniture industry," explained Graciela Soler of ANIEME.

The Spanish presence at Index has grown considerably over the past few years with 25 Spanish companies exhibiting at last year's show. This is coupled with an increase in trade between Spain and the UAE, which has seen the value of imports to the UAE from Spain more than double between 2002 and the end of 2006, reaching US$ 1 billion.

"ANIEME's participation at Index 2008 will provide access for new Spanish companies into this important market as well as strengthening the presence of companies who already have links to the region," added Soler.
