Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) announced that ExCeL London, its wholly-owned subsidiary, will host season six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The electric-powered car race, which made its debut in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, will be held at the events venue in the UK capital on July 25-26.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of Adnec, said: “ExCeL London’s winning bid for Formula E continues Adnec Group’s series of local and international achievements.

"The win aligns with our objective of hosting the world’s largest events at our venues, made possible due to our ongoing collaboration with our public and private sector partners. Such events strengthen these relationships and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness and attractiveness of our offerings.”

He added: “The selection of ExCeL London by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) validates the outstanding capabilities and competitive positioning of our venues at the international level."

Al Dhaheri reiterated Adnec’s commitment to making the sixth season of Formula E the most successful one in the championship’s history by providing a "truly unique setting" for teams, drivers and spectators.

The selection of ExCeL London to host the electric car racing extravaganza is another feather in the cap for Adnec, which assumed the management of ExCel London in 2008.
