Players will face off against youth teams including Cadiz, Sevilla, Almeria and Malaga
For the first time, 16 Emirati footballers from Dubai and Abu Dhabi have arrived in Spain to participate in La Liga’s annual scouting camp, the du LaLiga High Performance Centre (HPC) has announced.
The Emiratis will participate in training and competitive matches against some of the league’s top youth teams, including Sevilla FC and Malaga FC.
Their participation in the scouting camp is a result of a partnership between the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Dubai Sports Council (DSC) with the HPC to improve football in the UAE and give young players exposure and experience.
Ahead of the trip, the players – who come from local clubs including Al Jazira, Al Ain, Al Nasr, Al Wasl and Shabab Al Ahli - went through a training programme at HPC.
The first match, against Cadiz, is scheduled for today (Monday, August 19). The game will be followed by matches against Sevilla, Almeria, Granada, with a final match scheduled against Malaga CF on August 29.
La Liga scouts will be on the lookout at training sessions and matches as they hunt for emerging talent to invite for trials.
The scouting camp programme has been designed by La Liga’a UEFA-Pro certified coaches. The La Liga HPC is now home to 150 athletes from across the UAE.
To date, 17 HPC players have been invited for trials with Spanish clubs, while 10 have signed contracts with local and regional teams.
