The voting poll for the Arabian Business StartUp People’s Choice Award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 has opened today Sunday October 7, and will close on Sunday October 14.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced during the Arabian Business StartUp Awards 2018.

The event, held in partnership with Al Najah Education, will take place on October 23 at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre to recognise the country’s best performing start-ups, SMEs and entrepreneurs.

The award is the only one chosen by magazine readers.

Here are the nominees for the People’s Choice Award for Arabian Business Entrepreneur of the Year 2018:

Karalynn Thomson
Founder and managing director of The Animal Agency, the UAE’s only professional animal agency, and Reading Dogs UAE, which has been shown to improve children's reading fluency by up to 30 percent. Since its launch in Sept 2017, the team have read with over 2,500 pupils in English and Arabic.

Louise Karim
Managing director of recruitment platform Mums@Work, which has helped over 3,000 mothers in the UAE get back into the workforce by offering them services such as CV writing and skills enhancement.

Fergus James
Founder of diamond curator FergusJames.com, which eases the process of buying engagement and wedding rings through quick online guidance, unique customisation options and 70 percent cost savings on GIA certified diamonds.

Kunal Kapoor
Founder of The Luxury Closet, a Dubai-based platform which allows users to sell and buy authentic, pre-loved goods online and in store.

Sarah Jones
Founder and CEO of Sprii, an e-commerce shopping website for mothers which offers over 45,000 products from over 1,000 brands

Kamal Al Samarrai
Founder of Dawaami, a recruitment platform which aims to lower the time and cost of recruitment for employers by allowing them to post their jobs for free and have verified freelance recruiters bid to work on the role.

Anna Skigin
Founder of Frank Porter, an app that manages private homes and properties which are available to rent on the world’s top booking channels such as Airbnb, Booking.com, HomeAway, TripAdvisor and Expedia.

Tariq Hussain
Chief executive officer of Bodyo, a next-generation, wellness monitoring app which helps individuals track their health and fitness goals

Ghassan Muradweij
Founder of Koi, a ride-hailing app which relaunched as a limousine platform, connecting car providers with online travel agencies in the city.

Ali and Hussain Al Abbas
Founders of Tnerit, a platform that allows users to lend and borrow items ranging from homeware to fashion through an app.

Saudin Noddings
Founder of Shoenvious, a design-your-shoe platform that uses 3D technology to allow women to choose from over 50 design options and 250 choices of leather and material, before revealing a 360 render of their creations.

Haifa Addas
Founder of InstaGlam, a consolidated platform that connects beauty providers with global customers and offers reviews, price lists and portfolios.

Charlie Barlow
Founder of Health at Hand, an app which offers consumers medical video consultations through an on-demand subscription-based model

Hadi Radwan and Rachid Abi Nader
Chief product officer and CEO (respectively) of Aqeed, a one-stop shop for customers looking for insurance providers and products.

Kenan Al Mobayed
Founder of Keno, an on-demand and eco-friendly car wash solution.

Alanoud Al Mubarak
Founder of Fashtory, a fashion-focused online navigable directory that supports emerging designers by connecting them with fashion buyers

Hakim and Tasneem Boriawala
Founders of Bawabba, a freelancing website that allows individuals to pursue new professional opportunities full time or part time with minimum risk.

Haider Ali Khan
Founder of Bayut.com, a property portal that operates across all seven Emirates of the UAE

Jad Toubayly and Easa Al Gurg

Founder of mrUsta, an online service provider which makes people’s lives easier by connecting them to a broad range of repair and maintenance professionals.

Founders of Akyasi, a mobile app that picks up customers’ purchases from drop-off points in shopping malls and securely delivers them to their preferred locations

Tanaz Dizadji
Founder and CEO of Brand Ripplr, a Middle East micro-influencer platform which aims to solve the “logistical nightmare” of facilitating influencer marketing campaigns

Frank Afeaki and Loren Holland
Founders of GymNation, a fitness club which offers affordable memberships as low as AED125 per month with no upfront fees, as well as flexible no-contract membership options for customers in Dubai

Vaibhav Doshi
Founder of RentSher, a hassle-free, online marketplace that allows consumers ranging from five-star hotels to government entities and private villas to rent event necessities

Jassim Alnajjar and Peter Tignini
Founder and CEO, respectively, of The Perfect Help (TPH) Group, which became one of the UAE’s largest residential cleaning companies in the short span of just three years since its inception in 2015.

Today, it boasts over 800 employees across four different arms including TPH Cleaning, Maid CV, TPH Training and Yalla Fix It.

Over 70 finalists have been shortlisted for the other 13 categories, for which the winners will be chosen by a select judging panel and announced on the day of the awards along with the People’s Choice Award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2018.
