A new event will take place in Abu Dhabi in December to help small and medium sized enterprises expand.
The first SME Congress & Expo is scheduled for 16-18 December at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and will look at the challenges facing SMEs across MENA who wish to grow, as well as finding possible solutions.
Key aspects which will be addressed are the access to necessary funding, with a survey earlier this year showing that more than half of GCC based SMEs require between $50,000 and $150,000to meet the needs of their growing businesses.
The event, organised by Informa Exhibitions, aims to provide learning, contacts, and assistance to help SME owners and entrepreneurs in the region who are looking to either launch, grow, or finance their businesses.
Training workshops, an exhibition floor and a strategic congress will give attendees a variety of ways to find the information or contacts that they need, while a Pitch for Investment competition will provide a shortlist of ten entrepreneurs and business people the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of experts.
