Silicon Valley opportunity for MENA start-ups

AstroLabs invites start-ups to apply to US immersion programme

Start-up companies from across MENA have been invited to apply to an immersion programme in California’s famous Silicon Valley.

Blackbox Connect will take place between 17 March and 29 March, giving founders of international start-ups the opportunity to live, work and learn from other founders across the globe.

Hosted by Google for Entrepreneurs, the programme offers networking events, resources, access to mentors, and learning opportunities rarely on offer to Middle Eastern businesses.

In their role as Google for Entrepreneurs partners, the founders of UAE business AstroLabs have called for applications through the AstroLabs website.

Mohammed Mekki and Louis Lebbos’ company is one of many entrepreneurial endeavours sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs to help build a global ecosystem and encourage community approach to business.

The duo have asked for applications from MENA-based start-ups that are looking to expand globally and would like to leverage the resources Silicon Valley has to offer.

They will select up to four nominees to will be forwarded to Blackbox Connect, who will select one participant for the programme.

The event will be all expensed paid, including airfare, room and board, and tuition.

Applications must be made by 10 December at astrolabs.me.

In other news, the next AstroLabs Scaling Online Startups programme will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 14 to 16 December. The workshop will be hosted by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, and applications are being accepted on the AstroLabs website now.
