TURN8’s start-ups to pitch to investors

TURN8 has announced its Investor Demo Day, which will help promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Dubai

Participants of the TURN8 seed accelerator will take their start-up ideas to investors as they prepare to graduate from the entrepreneurship programme in Dubai.

A private Investor Demo Day event will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 17 January, where the tech start-up founders will pitch to regional and international investors.

The Fall 2014 class consists of entrepreneurs from eight countries including the UAE, Morocco, Yemen, India, Indonesia, Georgia, Romania and Sri Lanka.

They were invited to Dubai for the 120-day long programme, organised by DP World, where they received mentoring to refine and launch their business ideas, training in how to run a successful business, and seed funding of $30,000.

Yousif Al Mutawa, chief information officer at DP World, said: “This latest round offers another opportunity for investors to engage with more entrepreneurs to help bring their ideas to market and underlines our commitment to support and encourage the development of a culture of innovation and enterprise with Dubai as the hub for such activities.”

TURN8, an initiative of DP World and powered by i360accelerator, held its first and second Demo Days in January and June 2014.
