Starwood adds corporate touch with concierge service

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has launched StarMeeting Concierge, a new service designed to assist meeting and conference delegates during their stay.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has launched StarMeeting Concierge, a new service designed to assist meeting and conference delegates during their stay.

At each meeting, the hotels now provide a meeting concierge assigned to the meeting organiser as a permanent point of contact; on hand to welcome delegates, explain how the technology works, anticipate needs and respond quickly to any requests for assistance, in a bid to ensure efficient service.

“The StarMeeting Concierges that will be implemented in many Starwood hotels in the region including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Amman, Kuwait, Dubai and Egypt, will create an additional competitive advantage for our hotels and will certainly contribute to expanding our market share from this lucrative segment,” said Jirayr Kececian, director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels in Africa and Middle East.

Meetings areas in the selected hotels have a visible desk for the StarMeeting Concierge and meeting planners are handed a business card with the photo of their concierge so they can recognise them by sight, in an area where several meeting groups may be gathered. The service is offered at no additional cost to the customer.

The StarMeeting concierges themselves comprise existing members of the banqueting or events teams, and Starwood hopes this new function will provide a valuable reference point, as their remit allows more interaction with the customers and identifies where processes can be improved and where there is potential for a new service as part of the chain’s meetings product.

“Through this new service, where a meeting organiser gets given a personalised business card from their allocated StarMeeting concierge, we expect positive feedback. Such a simple concept will have a huge impact on our customer satisfaction and improve the product we are able to offer our meeting clients,” added Kececian.
