Starwood Hotels and Resorts will debut its aloft brand in the Middle East with the aloft Abu Dhabi set to open at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in late 2009.
The company has also announced that aloft's sister brand, W Hotels, will debut in Jordan in 2011 with the 280-room W Amman.
Promising to offer guests a "total sensory experience", the 408-rooms at the aloft Abu Dhabi will include nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows, large bathrooms and a high-tech office and entertainment centre with ‘plug&play' - a device to connect PDAs, cell phones, mp3 players and laptops to a large flat screen television.
The property will also include three F&B outlets, with guests expected to benefit from the hotel's proximity to the exhibition centre.
Starwood president Europe, Middle East and Africa Roeland Vos said: "Abu Dhabi is an exciting, fast-growing city and ideal for the brand's debut in the Middle East, giving us an opportunity to provide today's forward thinking travellers with a space that is open to design and open to possibilities".
The first aloft hotels are expected to open internationally this year.
Starwood's W Hotels brand debut in Jordan will be the company's fourth property in the Middle East, after announcements of properties slated for Doha, and Dubai - in Festival City and at The Palm.
The 280-room W Amman is being developed under an agreement with real estate development and asset management company Saraya.
The project will be part of the New Abdali Downtown project, covering more than 18 million sq feet, and the property plans to service additional luxury residences as part of the deal.
"The W signature design and cosmopolitan ambience are a perfect fit with our vision for the project," Vos said.
Plans include multiple outlets and pools and more than 4000 sq ft of meeting space. For all the latest travel news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
