Stormtroopers have arrive in the UAE ahead of the regional premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest edition of the sci-fi franchise.
With assistance from twofour54 and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, filming for the movie took place inthe UAE capital during May 2014 with over 650 crew working across two locations.
In the film, Abu Dhabi doubles for Jakku, a frontier desert planet.
Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54, and chair of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, welcomed six Stormtroopers at Emirates Palace.
The premiere on Wednesday is being hosted by twofour54 in partnership with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and Etihad Airways.
In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Imperial Stormtroopers are soldiers from the Galactic Empire in the film’s universe.
Touching down in the UAE capital, Stormtroopers from the UK and German garrisons of 501st Legion will join UAE Stormtroopers to greet and mingle with guests at the second worldwide premiere of the film, a statement said.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh instalment in the franchise and is anticipated to be one of the most successful films of all time.
So far, it has smashed all records for advance ticket sales in the United States.
