Avenger collection and Aviator 8 Mosquito watches redefine pilot watches
Breitling has confirmed its status as the world’s leading manufacturer of aviation-related watches with the redesign of the Avenger collection.
It joins two other collections – the Aviator 8 and the iconic Navitimer – in Breitling’s Air universe and marks an evolution of the brand’s pilot watches.
Avenger encompasses six editions, including the Breitling Super Avenger Chronograph 48 and Chronograph 48 Night Mission; Breitling Avenger Chronograph 45 and Chronograph 45 Night Mission; Breitling Avenger Swiss Air Force Team Limited Edition; Breitling Avenger Automatic GMT 45 and GMT 45 Night Mission; Breitling Avenger Chronograph 43; and the Breitling Avenger Automatic 43.
A statement from Breitling said: “It’s completely at home on the wrist of a drone specialist mastering the skies from the ground, a pilot in the cockpit of a supersonic jet, or an aviation pioneer who has long been committed to challenging the conventional boundaries of flight.”
Meanwhile, with its new Aviator 8 Mosquito watch, Breitling has drawn on the design of the onboard clocks designed by its Huit Aviation Department in the 1930s and 1940s and from its renowned reference 765 AVI, the highly legible watch known as the Co-Pilot.
The Aviator 8 Mosquito honors a plane constructed almost entirely of wood, the de Havilland Mosquito. Its speed and manoeuvrability contributed to its incredible success and improbable range of roles, including unarmed light bomber, day fighter, night fighter, and even photographic reconnaissance aircraft.
Breitling created the watch to honour the de Havilland Mosquito, a British aircraft whose lightweight wooden construction made it one of the fastest planes in the skies in the early 1940s. Breitling CEO, Georges Kern, said: “The de Havilland Mosquito is a truly unique and iconic piece of aviation history. It was distinguished by incredibly innovative design and an ingenious use of materials. Our Aviator 8 Mosquito is an affectionate reminder of one of the world’s true aviation successes.”For all the latest fashion trends from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
