The vintage-inspired watch is inspired by the hot rod aficionados of the 1950s
Swiss luxury watchmaker Bell & Ross and quarterly publication Revolution are offering watch enthusiasts a chance to step back into the 1950s with the Bellytanker ‘Dusty’ and ‘El Mirage’ Chronograph.
The Bellytanker Chronograph was born from the imagination of type of watches worn by hot rod aficionados who would race converted belly tanks – the detachable fuel tanks of WWII-era aircraft.
The watch captures this essence, with the earthy tones of the Bellytanker drawing inspiration from ‘tropical’ dials, with each feature – the central dial, recessed counters, seconds track and bezel – colour code in hues that give the watch that vintage look.
The vintage-inspired Chronograph carries with it the influences of military and aviation codes, stylised with thin hour indices, stepped seconds tack, thin hour indices and retro typography.
Designed exclusively by Revolution and the Rake in collaboration with Bell & Ross, the ‘Dusty’ chronograph comes in a steel case with a satin-brushed finish.
The central tropical dial of the watch is contrasted with dark small seconds and minute counters, with a matching minute track. The dial is framed in a brown anodised tachymeter bezel, dressed in a brown calfskin strap.
The Bellytanker Chronograph is a special, limited edition limited to 100 pieces, each valued at $4,500.
