Popularity of Hala and Shahry services are the reason for the boost in subscribers, firm says.
A surge in July sales has seen Qatar’s telecommunications firm Qtel reach two million customers, the firm said in a statement on Monday.
The popularity of the firm’s Hala and Shahry (Pay Monthly) services are the reason for the increase in subscribers, the firm said.
Qtel has experienced accelerated growth within the Qatari market this year, registering 1.8 million customers by March 2009, and reaching two million this month.
“It is a massive achievement to reach two million mobile customers in Qatar, and we are very grateful to the people for their support,” said Adel Al Mutawa, executive director, group communications, Qtel.
Qtel said its two millionth customer subscribed at one of its flagship Doha stores.
Customer service teams will be calling winners in the promotion over the next two weeks to let them know which prizes they have won. These include handsets, free subscriptions to Shahry, as well as up to 10,000 additional Nojoom points.
