Sword fight breaks out in Dubai supermarket after dispute

A sword fight broke out in Dubai after one man accidentally bumped into another in a Dubai supermarket.

Two Emiratis, aged 18 and 24, and a 33-year-old from Comoros Islands, appeared at Dubai Misdemeanours Court charged with assault, according to a report in 7Days newspaper.

The court heard that three Saudis were in a supermarket in Al Rigga on October 27, 2014, when one of them accidentally bumped shoulders with one of the defendants.

A row broke out and the three accused were said to have attacked the Saudi men using knives and swords.

When police arrived on the scene, the three accused were sitting in a car with blood-stained kanduras.

“They looked drunk or not aware of what was happening around them,” a policeman told the court. One of the men was found to be under the influence of drugs.

The two Emirati defendants admitted the assault and requested time to reach a settlement with the Saudi victims. The third accused has denied the charge. The case was adjourned until later this month.
