Symantec offers new endpoint security solution

Software protects data from unauthorized access by encrypting hard and removal drives

Symantec has launched a new business security solution that encrypts endpoints such as desktops, laptops and removable storage devices.

Symantec Endpoint Encryption 7.0 is designed to protect all data on the hard drive of a Windows-based machine and prevent its accidental loss. Useful disk recovery tools also make it easy for IT administrators to access a machine and set usage rights.

The solution also reduces the risk removable storage devices pose to data security by offering full protection to data on a USB flash drive, iPod and other related products.

"The number one way companies are losing confidential information is through theft or loss of laptops and storage devices," said Steve Morton, vice president, product management, Symantec.

"As a growing array of endpoint devices are granted access to corporate resources, the need to properly ensure endpoint security and encryption on each of these endpoints is more prevalent than ever as these technologies will help businesses mitigate the increasing risk of information loss."

The Symantec Endpoint Encryption can be purchased in three formats – full disk, removable storage and a combined full disk and removable storage edition.
