Visitors to Gitex are being amused by the yellow and black-clad group touring the exhibition halls to promote Symantec’s latest network security solution. The walking tableau made its debut a few months ago on New York’s Wall Street and is now finding new audiences around the world. The group is a human version of Symantec’s globally branded security systems graphic. The central black-clad figure represents a corporate client while the four yellow people depict the all-round protection that the company’s new anti-virus software, the Symantec Enterprise Enterprise System Architecture, offers. Prajit Arakkal, Symantec Business Unit Manager at APTEC, says: “More and more companies are showing interest in this kind of solution. This one is unique because it can cover a whole network, which may contain several different anti-virus softwares running by switching between them.”He says: “Our single console Security Systems Centre (SSC) controls all of a network’s security solutions and makes management of security solutions much easier and faster.”APTEC claims to have doubled its market share in the Middle East region over the past one and a half years and Arakkal sees Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE as the biggest regional markets and says that in a recent global survey only companies in Germany showed more interest in network security solutions than the Middle East.
