Synaxis to unveil largest LED advertising screen in the Gulf

Abu Dhabi based company, Synaxis Media and Advertising is set to unveil, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Municipality, one of the largest LED advertising screens in the world.

The LED screen, named Opulence, will be installed on the rooftop of Abu Dhabi’s Fotouh al Khair shopping centre on September 30.

The managing director of Synaxis, Fahed M. Al Absi, said the screen would essentially be an advertising space in Abu Dhabi for all major corporations, international brands and advertisers.

Opulence’s screen will be slightly curved allowing visual representation from a variety of angles. It will measure 28 metres by 8 metres, or 224 square metres, thereby making advertisements visible from as far as one-kilometre away.

The screen, which has been manufactured by Taiwanese company Cotco Cree, will feature 16.7 million colours, display text, graphics, animation and full video, operating daily between 6am to 2am.

Al Absi said Opulence would allow advertisers to stretch their small budgets to have a wider reach and a larger impact.

“The LED screen will hold more than 24 advertisers, depending on the availability of time slots. We will generate money by selling the time slots,” said Al Absi.

Though Synaxis will initially deploy a screen in Abu Dhabi, there are plans for three additional LED screens in the emirate.

“We are also planning to expand our operations beyond Abu Dhabi by the end of 2009, based on feasibility,” Al Absi said.

The launch of Opulence is part of Synaxis’ plan to contribute to the 2030 economic vision of Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) for transforming the emirate into an international economic hub.

Al Absi said the partners involved in the project “shared our belief that innovation through digital media will uplift communications in the Gulf and that Abu Dhabi is the upcoming hub for the impending media boom”.

“This is a monumental moment, not just for advertisers, but for citizens as well as it puts the Emirates on the map,” he stated.
