Taiwanese firms in joint venture

Motherboard and graphics card makers Gigabyte and Asustek are to team up in a US$245million joint venture to better position the Taiwan-based manufacturers in what they see as a declining market for the computer components.

Gigabyte will transfer the business of its own branded motherboards and VGA cards to a newly established subsidiary and Asustek will then invest in the company — set to start operating in January next year.
