Taste of Dubai, the food, drink and music event held last weekend, welcomed a record-breaking 27,037 visitors, it was announced on Monday.

The three day event served up a line-up of internationally renowned and Michelin starred chefs, who demonstrated their culinary expertise at the Electrolux Chef’s Theatre, American Garden and Lurpak Cooking Challenge and Electrolux Chef’s Secrets.

Boasting a collection of eight Michelin stars between them, the chefs included Atul Kochhar, Alfred Prasad, Nathan Outlaw, Tom Aikens, Tim Anderson, Paolo Pettenuzzo and celebrity chefs Jenny Morris, Reza Mahammad, and Jun Tanaka.

“Every year, the challenge is to come up with something bigger and better than the year before and the record attendance we saw this year is a testament to how we continually strive to improve our offering and features, said Chris Fountain, managing director of events organiser Turret Media.

“Securing so many Michelin starred and internationally renowned chefs at one event was a real coup. We truly believed that there was something for everyone at this year’s Taste of Dubai and we are pleased that our visitors reacted so positively. It was the perfect build-up to the event’s ten year anniversary in 2017.”

The weekend also saw visitors enjoy a taste of the most popular dishes from 19 fine-dining restaurants in Dubai, including seven new eateries - Bread Street Kitchen, Catch, Vesna, Atisuto, Muchachas, Fratelli La Bufala and Bistro Des Arts. Returning favourites included Gaucho, Nobu, Sonamu, The Gramercy, Tresind and Royal Orchid.

Live entertainment ran throughout the weekend with disco legends Boney M headlining the event.

Taste of Dubai came to a close at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Sunday, bringing an end to Dubai Food Festival’s 17-day citywide celebration of food.
