New Dubai think tank launched to tackle cyber threats

The body will be used by public and private sector entities to brainstorm ideas, carry out research, have discussions and make recommendations in a bid to address the security issue.


Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) is ready to tackle the scourge of cyber threats head on with the creation of the Dubai Cyber Think Tank.

The body will be used by public and private sector entities to brainstorm ideas, carry out research, have discussions and make recommendations in a bid to address the security issue.

Jassim Mohammed, security operations manager at DESC, said: "The priorities of the platform include confronting and resolving the current and future cyber challenges and risks as well as contributing to the development of proactive policies and frameworks for the cybersecurity of Dubai.”

The platform will hold regular meetings and monthly workshops involving DESC, government departments and cyber security experts, with a view to developing strategies and policies for public and private organisations.

"These initiatives help us make remarkable progress in realising Dubai Government's vision for developing and carrying out initiatives and policies that aim at solving electronic security challenges and building a secure and resilient cyberspace for Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, with its public and private sectors," Mohammed added.
