Evoteq agreement will employ AI technology to provide Sharjah parking spots that can be booked through mobile phones
Sharjah City Municipality and Evoteq have announced their collaboration for a new artificial intelligence solution to enhance the emirate’s parking management system.
The initiative will employ AI technology to provide parking spots that can be booked through mobile phones.
As part of the agreement, both entities will be exploring smart transport platform solutions for driver behaviour, traffic congestion and parking, a statement said.
The Sharjah Smart Parking project will allow residents to identify and reserve spaces in parking lots via their phones and will introduce priority parking for urgent cases for the first time ever in Sharjah.
Payment for priority parking will be set to encourage drivers to use these spaces "responsibly and only in relevant cases", the statement added.
Thabit Salim Al Turaifi, director general of Sharjah Municipality, said the project will initially kick off as a three-month pilot programme to measure success and ease of usage before being widely rolled out across parking lots in Sharjah.
Jihad Tayara, CEO of Evoteq, added: "We are developing solutions that will establish Sharjah as a leading digital economy and smart city. At the same time, we will be improving the quality and efficiency of systems to benefit the everyday lives of residents.”For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
