The UAE’s newly formed EDGE defence giant will be the largest individual presence at the 2019 Dubai Airshow, the event’s organisers have announced.

EDGE, which was launched on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, will put 25 companies, including businesses that were once under Emirates Defence Industries Co, under its umbrella. The founder of cyber-security DarkMatter, Faisal Al Bannai, will serve as its CEO.

The company will be the first ever ‘advanced technology partner’ of the Dubai Airshow, where it will also have the biggest pavilion.

A total of eleven EDGE subsidiary companies will showcase their capabilities at the show: ADASI, AMMROC, Al Tariq, Beacon Red, EARTH, EPI, ETS, GAL, Halcon, Horizon and Jaheziya.

A ‘future lab’ set up by EDGE at the show will serve to highlight its R&D and technologies through a series of holographic displays, the company said in a statement. Additionally, the company will help talented young innovators from the Emirates Foundations’ Think Science Program will showcase their innovations at the EDGE pavilion on the first day of the event.

“Technology is drastically changing the aerospace industry, and EDGE is taking significant strides to respond with agile, bold and disruptive solutions – bringing products to market faster and more efficiently,” Al Bannai said.

Al Bannai added that “with Air Force and Air Defence being key areas of focus for militaries, we are invested in reimagining aviation capabilities and supporting its unprecedented growth and development, through technology exploration in areas such as autonomous vehicles, cyber-physical systems, advanced propulsion systems and robotics, with a focus on artificial intelligence across our products and services.”

The Dubai Airshow will take place at DWC from November 17 to 21.
