Searchie has announced Osman Sultan and Rima Hadid from Mumtalakat as new board members
Osman Sultan, the CEO of UAE-based telecommunications company du, has been appointed as a board member of Searchie, a Dubai-based artificial intelligence video recruitment platform.
Sultan, who has been CEO of du since July 2005, is due to step down in early 2020 and this new position will be one of his first appointments as part of his career away from the telecoms operator, which he helped launch in 2006.
“As a person who has been following all the developments that are happening in the tech space and digital transformations, I believe AI will play more and more a role in these transformations,” Sultan said.
“I got to meet the founders of Searchie, their vision, and then I got to know more about the company and what they were doing in this region and beyond this region and I didn’t need more than this to believe in it, to invest and play a role in supporting what will be a beautiful company to become,” he added.
Searchie was founded in 2018 by entrepreneurs Harvey and Sahiqa Bennett and uses modern technological advances to help screen and shortlist candidates based on an employer's brief.
In addition to Sultan, a statement by Searchie said that Rima Hadid, chief operating officer at Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the Bahraini sovereign wealth fund, had also joined as a board member.
“The Fourth Industrial Revolution is here and we all need to step-up and harness the power of technology and artificial intelligence. What better way, than doing so with a focus on human resources. I am excited to partake in Searchie’s journey of unlocking, developing and implementing technological advances, that positively impact human interaction in an intelligent manner,” Hadid said.
Heath Jansen, who was previously managing director of equity research at Citibank, has also been appointed chief financial officer at Searchie, the statement added.
