Ten companies have pre-qualified for the contract to build Dubai’s floating bridge, which will be constructed to the south of Al Maktoum Bridge over Dubai Creek

Ten companies have pre-qualified for the contract to build Dubai’s floating bridge, which will be constructed to the south of Al Maktoum Bridge over Dubai Creek.

Contractors in the running for the eight-month project include Switzerland’s Archirodon Construction (Overseas); Besix; China Harbour Engineering Company; Germany’s Clement Yacht Harbour Systems; Dutco Balfour Beatty; Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company of South Korea; Sweden’s SF Marina; Japan’s Taisei Corporation; Austria’s Waagner Biro Gulf; and Wade Adams Contracting.

The bridge will be built out of 20m-wide hollow concrete blocks that will float on water. Its rolling segment will allow the structure to open and close at intervals of 20 minutes to allow the movement of ships across the Creek.
