Thailand’s PTTEP and Bahrain Petroleum Company will carry out joint feasibility studies on blocks 1 & 2.
Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Company (PTTEP) has signed an agreement with Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) to jointly carry out feasibility studies on blocks 1 & 2 offshore the Kingdom of Bahrain. Both blocks are situated offshore in the north-west part of Bahrain and cover a total area of 5,117 square kilometers.
The one year geological and geophysical work programme will cover extensive petroleum systems assessments, seismic reprocessing testing and detailed interpretation work.
If the results of the study show that the blocks have hydrocarbon potential, PTT Exploration said it will discuss the possible signing of an exploration production sharing agreement with the Bahrain government and Bapco.
PTTEP president Maroot Mrigadat said: “PTTEP is very pleased to be able to jointly study and evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the blocks with Bapco.”
