Sony mobile is at the edge of innovation around technologies related to futuristic businesses.
Drawing upon the research and development clout of Sony’s various divisions, Sony Mobile says it is on a mission to redefine the consumer relationship with technology by designing and creating intelligent and connected devices.
Many of those devices have been exhibited in the UAE at various events, entertaining and astonishing customers.
During an interview with Arabian Business, CEO and presidnet Hiroki Totoki, who led the company’s transformation in 2015, said, “Smartphones are completely connected to other devices, also connected to people’s lives — deeply. And the opportunity for diversification is huge.
“We’re heading to the IoT (Internet of Things) era and have to produce a number of new categories of products in this world, otherwise we could lose out on a very important business domain.
“In that sense we will never ever sell or exit from the current mobile business.”
It recently launched the world’s first 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) Xperia XZ Premium smartphone, the first to take Super slow motion videos at 960 frames per second, four times “slower” than any other smartphone on the planet. It has also launched three mid-range smartphones this year— Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra and Xperia L1 – to further its reach across various segments of the market. The other big advancement it has made is in Artificial Intelligence (AI), with smart Xperia devices such as the Xperia Ear personal assistant and the Xperia Touch smart projector.
