Etisalat is the most valuable of any telecoms brand in the Middle East, with the group’s portfolio valued at $7.73bn, according to Brand Finance’s annual ranking.
Listed on the Abu Dhabi bourse, the firm announced last week that its profit after royalties for the first quarter of 2017 had increased 5 percent to $570m.
The group has an aggregate subscriber base of 159 million. The number of UAE subscribers continues to grow, up 4 percent in the first quarter to reach 12.5 million.
Revenues reached $3.4bn for the quarter.
The telecom has expanded to Egypt, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, as well as buying stakes in telecoms Mobily in Saudi Arabia, Ufone and PTCL in Pakistan, and Maroc Telecom and Moov brands in Africa.
