Rotana is one of the most well-known local hospitality brands in the Gulf. Founded in 1992, it was formed by a partnership between Nasser Al Nowais and Selim El Zyr. Its first property, the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, opened in 1993.
CEO Omer Kaddouri revealed to Arabian Business last week that it was on the verge of meeting its goal to oeprate 100 hotels, with 55 already open and 49 under construction.
New properties set to open in the next two years include five hotels in Saudi Arabia, four in the UAE, and two each in Iraq and Turkey. There are also plans to open in Jordan, Iran and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kaddouri also says Europe represents a target market, and the company is targeting openings in key cities across the UK and Europe by 2020.
