The celebration brunch: Mint Leaf of London, DIFC

With fantastic views of the Dubai Skyline and the Burj Khalifa beyond, Mint Leaf of London – in the South Tower of Emirates Financial Towers in DIFC, is not your local curry house

Located on the 15th floor of a busy DIFC skyscraper is Mint Leaf of London. Having winged its way from Britain's capital to our sandy shores, it offers contemporary Indian and Pakistani food, unlike anything you might find at your local takeaway.

It boasts a minimalist interior and exceptional views through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, along with large lounge and bar area. Indeed, food aside it would still make for an excellent location to spend a Friday afternoon. But there's no reason to give the food a miss.

The brunch – which has just recently added a vegetarian offering – is a six-course menu that is served to your table. Portion sizes are deliberately small, to help you get through the gargantuan menu, and you can always order more of what you like throughout the afternoon. The food is interesting and delicious.

First courses are not what you might expect – spiced chickpeas with tamarind chutney, followed by Tandoori broccoli and cream cheese, for example – but that's not a bad thing. In fact, while you might not recognise all the dishes on the menu, you'll certainly appreciate their flavour. Service is standout, with food coming out of the open kitchen at just the right pace.
