The original Bistrot Bagatelle opened its doors in Manhattan almost ten years ago. Since then, it has developed a reputation for both delectable dining and raucous nightlife.

It quickly became a celebrity hangout in its native New York, which led to openings in other glamorous cities around the world: New York, Sao Paulo, St. Barths, St. Tropez and Miami. The Dubai location opened in 2014 and has been tasked with maintaining the brand's upstanding reputation.

The restaurant itself is funky, to say the least. Bagatelle opens its doors at 8 pm. However, the fun really starts later in the evening. By 10 pm the tables are full of well-dressed society types, eating, drinking and being merry around the small but well-stocked bar. As the night goes on, so too does the live entertainment, and it's not unheard of for guests to start dancing come midnight.

Food is excellent. A mixture of Italian and French classics, with an added dash of foodie panache – everything is presented playfully and appetisingly.

Starters are best shared, with the likes of truffle pizza, beef tartar and Foie gras sliders worthy of recommendation. There are various pasta mains, alongside Mediterranean fish and meat dishes, and you can expect a generous amount of truffle in any dish that lists it as an ingredient.
