Clients from out of town warrant special attention, which means a good few lunches and dinners out. While it's important to remain respectful to your guest's home culture, it's also important to get a good meal yourself.

If steak is your thing – or you're entertaining visitors from the land of baguettes – then Ruth's Chris steak house fits the bill. It's running a new taste of Burgundy evening, complete with French favourites like escargot, duck confit and filet mignon (with an extra helping of foi gras and truffle butter).

For those unfamiliar, Ruth's Chris hails from the States. The grammatically uncommon name refers to its owner Ruth Fertel, who in 1965 bought New Orleans's original steak house – Christ Steak House, founded way back in 1927. When a fire burned down the original restaurant shortly thereafter, Fertel has to re-locate it elsewhere. Seeing this as an opportunity to put her name on the branding she renamed it Ruth's Chris.

Since then it's become a staple of fine dining in the states, and has been franchised in locations such as Jakarta, Panama City and Taipei. The restaurant – located in the Dubai Marina's Address Hotel – mixes signature steaks and Southern-flavoured seafood, in an unmistakably American decor.
