The Picasso Suite: Hotel de Russie, Rome

The Rocco Forte property is one of the most tastefully decorated in Rome and brings a touch of new school luxury to and old-school city

The Picasso Suite: Hotel de Russie, Rome

As its name suggests, Pablo Picasso was a guest in this suite in Rome's Hotel De Russie for three months back in 1917. The room was redesigned this spring and dubbed the Picasso Suite. It pays homage to one of the world's most famous artist, with prints and cushions featuring his abstract designs – such as his famous portrait of lover Dora Maar – as well as vivid and eclectic colour scheme in shades often used by the artist – including yellow and purple.

The suite's 270-square-foot terrace overlooks the hotel's lush inner garden – played with Cyprus and palm trees – and with the door open feels like an extension of the indoor living room. Guests get a double sofa, coffee table and dining table that seats four.

Those staying in the suite also receive a complimentary personalised experience of their choice, such as a sightseeing run through the city with a personal trainer.
