Badriya Al Bishr has never shirked from taking a view on some of the most controversial issues facing Arab women today, mainly through her daily column for Al Hayat. In addition, she also made the long list for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction this year, for her novel Love Stories on Al Asha Street. Her other novels are Hind and the Soldiers and The Seesaw. Al Bishr is a PhD graduate from the American University of Beirut, and an alumnus of the US State Department International Visitor Programme. She currently lectures at King Saud University’s Department of Social Studies.
