Professor Nesreen Ghaddar was the first woman to be elected to the Lebanese Academy of Science in 2009. She is currently the associate provost at the American University of Beirut, and is also Qatar Chair of Energy Studies, as well as being a professor of mechanical engineering at the institute. Professor Ghaddar was also a founding member of the Energy Research Group, a group of scholars that is conducting research on sustainability for Lebanon and the wider Middle East. In addition to all that, she has also been an associate editor on the Journal of Applied Mechanics, the publication of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
