Three men died in the early hours of Sunday morning, as the Ferrari they were driving hit the pavement and crashed in to a lamp post.
The incident happened at about 12:30am on Al Sarayat Road in Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The Ferrari was completely destroyed in the crash.
Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said, "The three men were in a Ferrari, which hit the pavement, allowing the driver to lose control and crash into a lamp post, splitting the car in half". He added the three men died from the serious injuries that resulted from the crash.
One of the passengers was Cody Nixon, a Toronto boxer, who is believed to have been driving with his cousin. He had rented the Ferrari while on holiday in the emirate. A picture posted to Nixon's Instagram account (below) shows Nixon posing with a yellow Ferrari. The caption reads, "Just landed [in] Dubai and picked up the Ferrari! Don't worry I won't speed ;)".
Col Al Mazrouei urged motorists to drive carefully, and to always abide by traffic rules.
