Thuraya’s sat phone sales joy

MOBILE SATELLITE service provider Thuraya has reported that sales of its latest satellite phones, the S0-2510 and the SG- 2520, have been a big success.

Its initial 10,000 unit shipment of the S0-2510 satellite phone, which the company claims is the world’s smallest satellite phone, sold out within a few months of its launch, the company said.

The phone will be commercially available later this year and Thuraya said it expects to sell 70,000 units of the phone in its first year.

The S0-2510 is a satellite only handset designed for those requiring mobile connectivity in areas beyond terrestrial networks.

Weighing just 130g, the firm claimed it is the world’s lightest and smallest satellite phone. Its features include GPS, a high-resolution colour screen, enhanced memory, UBS connectivity and multi-language support.
