As it prepares for its busiest December ever, Dubai International Airport has announced a host of promotions and activities to encourage passengers travelling over the winter holidays to get to the airport on time.

The airport expects as many as 8 million passengers, and over 250,000 on some days, to pass through its gates this month, a figure boosted by growing numbers of tourists and the closure of schools in the UAE for the holidays.

The airport has confirmed it will augment staff levels during peak periods and deploy the latest sensor technology to constantly monitor passenger flows and reduce delays and long queues.

“We have two priorities: to manage the operational flow of these hundreds of thousands of passengers, and that they all have an enjoyable and memorable experience at DXB,” said Anita Mehra, senior vice president of communications and reputation at Dubai Airports.

Those flying between December 15 and 23 have been advised to reach the airport further ahead of time than usual, to beat the rush, and also to take part in the many festive activities the airport is hosting over the period.

Reviving the ‘Early Birds’ campaign launched in the summer, travellers through Dubai Airports will receive discounts on activities, services, and dining through all terminals, by claiming three free vouchers after searching for ‘EarlyBirdsDXB’ on Facebook Messenger and chatting directly with Santa.

The airport will have Santa visiting an ‘instagrammable’ village in Concourse B on his sleigh and taking centre stage in front of a 14 metre tall Burj Khalifa made of gingerbread. Other offerings include a Bounce trampoline park, and festive themed food and drinks
