The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced it will open three new bridges on Friday as part of the Airport Street Improvement Project.
By opening these bridges, the RTA will complete the opening of all bridges on project; which will considerably improve traffic flow on the road around Dubai International Airport.
A two-lane tunnel will be opened to serve the traffic inbound from the Airport Street heading towards Marrakech Street in July this year, the RTA added.
Upon completion of the Airport Street Project, the capacity of the Airport Street will increase by an additional 5,000 vehicles per hour.
Bridges to be opened include a two-lane bridge to serve the traffic from Nad Al Hamar Street to the Airport Street while upgrading Marrakech-Airport Streets Junction includes the opening of a ramp leading to Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
RTA will also open the bridge leading to the premises of the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, a statement said.
It added that the project is needed to cope with the sharp growth rate in the number of passengers using Dubai International Airport, which is expected to hit 92 million passengers per year by 2020.For all the latest UAE news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
