Lucid Motors, the electric-car start-up funded by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, has appointed Peter Hochholdinger as vice president of manufacturing.
Hochholdinger, who has almost 30 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing, joins from competitors Tesla Motors where he was vice president for production.
He also previously spent 24 years with Audi, where he rose to senior director of production for Audi A4, A5, and Q5, overseeing the assembly of over 400,000 cars annually.
Hochholdinger will lead Lucid’s global manufacturing operations, starting with the plant in Casa Grande, Arizona, as well as manufacturing engineering.
Peter Rawlinson, Lucid CEO and CTO, said: “Peter’s extensive experience and proven leadership in premium-vehicle manufacturing will prove invaluable as we continue our progress towards the launch of Lucid Air and future models.
Rawlinson himself was chief engineer of the Model S when he previously worked for Tesla.
