Emirates chief hails upcoming Expo 2020 as 'unmissable'

Sir Tim Clark says Emirates is ready to play its part in world showcase

Emirates chief hails upcoming Expo 2020 as 'unmissable'
Emirates will also have a pavilion at the Expo site where visitors will be afforded a look into the future and the range of passenger products that could be developed by the airline.

Dubai Expo 2020 will be “the greatest show on earth” according to Emirates Airline president Sir Tim Clark.

The world showcase is set to open its doors in Dubai almost a year from now and Clark couldn’t hide his excitement during an interview with the Emirates World Interviews podcast series with Steve Harvey.

He said: “It will be something that you really should not miss because it will be fun for everybody, it will educate everybody, it will be an interactive thing. You will want to spend a lot of time there – one visit isn’t going to be enough. You’ll probably want to spend three or four days there going through the pavilions.

“It’s going to be hugely interesting for everybody, for all demographics, for all nationalities, all age groups, it’ll just be real fun.”

Emirates is the official airline partner for Expo 2020, with 70 percent of visitors expected to travel internationally to visit the event. Selected aeroplanes have been adorned with the Expo logo and various other Expo-related designs, while Clark said: “Those will become far more colourful and far more vibrant as we get closer to the event.”

He added: “Obviously we are a major player with regard to the airlift of people in because Dubai needs the aviation sector and Emirates is its primary tool for that.

“We are hoping that we will scoop up larger numbers of people from all over the world, across our network and bring them to Expo. Whether that means people transiting our network will break out from their journey to spend a few days down there, we’re working on that.”

Emirates will also have a pavilion at the Expo site where visitors will be afforded a look into the future and the range of passenger products that could be developed by the airline.
