Lectures saw 1,900 drivers review safety procedures, local traffic laws and regulations
Dubai Police have driven home the importance of safety to 1,900 school bus drivers.
The drivers attended a series of awareness lectures organized by the Department of Campaigns and Traffic Awareness at Dubai Police.
Director of Dubai Traffic Police, Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, said: “It is essential to achieve the highest levels of traffic awareness among this segment as their role in maintaining the safety of students is crucial, and this will surely contribute to reducing traffic accidents."
The lectures, part of the ‘Traffic Safety Campaign for School Students’ programme and held at GEMS Wellington Academy, saw drivers review safety procedures, local traffic laws and regulations and the importance of keeping to the speed limits.
"The lectures also elaborated on risk-free means to board and exit school buses, as well as the proper seating layouts. It also highlighted the direction provided to school bus drivers to stop at designated locations, the importance of triggering the stop enrol on the side of the bus, and means to make certain that pupils are boarding and also going out buses safely." Al Mazrouei added.
Just last month, 15 students were injured following a collision between a bus, which was travelling to Our English High School in Al Warqa, and a tanker, in Dubai.
