Masdar City adds to Circ's growing portfolio of partner communities in the UAE capital since its regional launch in July
Europe’s micro-mobility champion, Circ, has announced a new community partnership in Abu Dhabi with Masdar City, the world’s first low-carbon urban community, to provide e-scooters to its residents, tenants and visitors.
Masdar City adds to Circ’s growing portfolio of partner communities in the UAE capital since its regional launch as the first regulator-approved e-scooter operator in the Middle East in July, with current Abu Dhabi operations spanning the Corniche, Al Danah, Al Bateen and Reem Island.
Masdar City, which generates renewable energy on site from rooftop solar panels and a ground-mounted solar array, provides the ideal location for Circ to operate its fully electric scooters, the company said in a statement.
Jaideep Dhanoa, co-founder and CEO of Circ MENA said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Masdar City, bringing our purpose-built e-scooters to its residents, tenants and visitors.
"As the first official micro-mobility operator to launch in the UAE, our aim has always been to provide the country with a cleaner, safer and more accessible mobility solution. With thousands of visitors each week, Masdar City shares our sustainability values wholeheartedly. We look forward to a fruitful partnership and continuing to expand green transport in the region.”
Yousef Baselaib, executive director of sustainable real estate at Masdar, added: “The arrival of Circ is another attraction for our growing community of Masdar City tenants, visitors and residents to enjoy.
“It further complements our network of sustainable mobility solutions serving the city, which includes Masdar City’s iconic Personal Rapid Transit system, the first autonomous and driverless shuttle vehicle to become operational in Abu Dhabi, and the first car-sharing service using Tesla passenger vehicles.”
Circ’s e-scooters can be used in designated areas within Masdar City and parked anywhere that is not classified as a ‘no-park’ zone.
All Circ rides include comprehensive insurance for personal accident, third-party liability and product liability coverage. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
