Sharjah Police Headquarters earned over $3.6m from a public auction of distinctive car number plates, in cooperation with Emirates Auction.


The number ‘9’ car registration plate has sold for almost $1 million at auction.

Sharjah Police Headquarters earned over $3.6m from a public auction of distinctive car number plates, in cooperation with Emirates Auction.

In total, 50 plates with two, three and four digits were up for auction. The number ‘16’ brought in $326.8m, while ‘88’ came in third, selling for $280.5m; followed by ‘25’, which sold for $277.7m, plate ‘343’ for $51,700, and plate ‘108’ for over $46,000, according to a report on Emirates News Agency (WAM).

General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, director-general of Central Operations at Sharjah Police, said: "Principles of transparency and equal opportunities are our goals at the Sharjah Police, and we are instilling these principles in all of our duties and services.”
