Flight was diverted to Athens where the passenger was treated by medics
An Emirates flight, which departed Dubai on Friday night, destined for Manchester Airport, was forced to take a diversion after a passenger fell ill.
According to a spokesperson from the Dubai carrier, the flight was rerouted to Athens in the early hours of Saturday morning, where the passenger was tended to by medics, before the plane continued on its journey to the United Kingdom.
The spokesperson for Emirates said: “Emirates flight EK201 from Dubai (DXB) to Manchester (MAN) on 27th December was diverted to Athens (ATH) due to a passenger medical emergency.
"Arrangements were made for the passenger to receive medical attention on arrival.
"The flight then departed Athens and continued on its journey to Manchester. Emirates apologises for the inconvenience.
"The health and safety of our crew and passengers is of paramount importance."
